
Stubborn Ox Farm is hiring someone to join our team in a part-time and seasonal capacity. We are a Certified Organic mixed vegetable farm. We currently grow 2 acres of produce outdoors and have five high tunnels in production.
PAY AND BENEFITS
- Hourly wage: $16.50
- Weekly veggies from the farm
- One paid day off per season; unpaid time off with adequate advanced notice
SCHEDULE AND HOURS
- 2 days per week, May through October, with a one-hour unpaid lunch per day
- Seeking help either Tuesday or Wednesday, AND Thursday
- Tuesday and Wednesday are farm project days, Thursday is harvest
- Seasonal Hours: 7:00a – 4:00p – flexible scheduling is negotiable
JOB DESCRIPTION – You will regularly work with at least one other member of the team; at times, you may be asked to work alone depending on the task and situation

- Farm project work (Tue/Wed) includes:
- Greenhouse seedling production
- High tunnel crop maintenance (bed preparation, pruning, and trellising)
- Transplanting seedlings
- Hand tool cultivation and general weed management
- Wednesday is a picking day (tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, peas, etc.)
- Harvest and pack work (Thur) includes:
- Harvesting multiple different vegetables
- Washing, bunching, and/or packing produce
- Cleaning and sanitizing harvest/storage totes and bins
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work outdoors, regardless of the weather
- Ability to do repetitive tasks with diligence and positivity while standing, squatting, kneeling, bending, and/or lifting for extended periods of time
- Ability to work well with others and alone
- Reliable and prompt with an attention to detail
- Good communication skills, including: listening to directions, retaining multiple instructions, self-advocacy, giving and receiving constructive feedback, etc.
- A commitment to the success of the farm
